3-4 Days | Impenetrable Forest Expedition

Bwindi Gorilla Trek

A Life-Changing Encounter in the Ancient Forest

Deep in the southwestern corner of Uganda lies Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. This 3-4 day trek is more than a safari; it is a pilgrimage into one of the oldest and most biologically diverse ecosystems on Earth. Navigating steep ridges and dense undergrowth, you will track a habituated family group for an hour of quiet observation that few humans ever witness.

Trek Itinerary

Day 1: The Scenic Gateway

Entebbe to the Bwindi Highlands

Early morning flight or scenic drive from Entebbe to the Bwindi sector. Traverse the "Switzerland of Africa" with its terraced hills and volcanic vistas. Settle into a forest-edge lodge and listen to the symphony of the Impenetrable Forest as the mist rolls in.

Day 2: The Main Event

Gorilla Tracking & Batwa Culture

The day begins with a briefing at park headquarters. Accompanied by expert rangers, you head into the forest. Tracking can take 2-6 hours depending on the gorillas' movement. Once found, spend a silent hour observing their social bonds, feeding, and play. Afternoon visit with the Batwa Pygmies to learn ancient forest survival skills.

Day 3/4: Birding & Return

Farewell to the Great Apes

Enjoy a guided morning birding walk or a visit to a community hospital project. For those on a 4-day trip, we include a scenic canoe ride on Lake Mutanda before your flight back to Entebbe or onwards to Queen Elizabeth Park for a traditional savanna safari.
